The Boys from Weird Holler

THE BOYS FROM WEIRD HOLLER

Words: Jack Hunter Daves / Music: Troy Guinn

The Boys from Weird Holler will

Rock you outta yore head

With that hillbilly rhythm

Even though those cats are dead

So come and listen to my yarn

‘bout what happened in Josh’s barn

When the Boys from Weird Holler

Were sent to eternity....

It was on a long ago Halloween night

In a barn near Dead Man’s Drop

Every cat in Booger County had

Come for the Harvest Hop

Lucky Slim was janglin’ on the Gretsch and

Ben was on the bass

Little Joe Kelly was a-drummin’ at a

Psychopathic pace

All the guys and gals were eatin’

Punkin pie and sippin’ from a jar

‘Cause Josh’s barn hid a moonshine still and

Doubled as a bar.

The Boys from Weird Holler will

Rock you outta yore shoes

They gotta play that crazy beat to

Lose them haunted blues

That night in Josh’s barn

Those boys didn’t give a darn

‘Cause down in Weird Holler

They’d rock for eternity.

Whiskey flowed like water

Those boys ‘bout had a fit

Lucky Slim said, “If you aint wantin to rock

then go ahead and git!”

The still was workin’ overtime just to

Keep ‘em likkered up

Josh yelled, “Punkin Heads! Apple-Bobbers!

C’mon and have a sup!”

Then he hollered out, “Go Cat Go!” and

Got on the outside of a swig

While the kids in Weird Holler

began to dance a jig

.

The Boys from Weird Holler

are gonna rock you outta your gourd

Those hillbilly hepcats in their

Rumblin’ Hot Rod Ford

They were wailin’ out that jive

On their last night alive

When the Boys from Weird Holler

Were blown to eternity.

Shoe leather was scatterin’ straw

You should have seen ‘em go

When Josh jumped from behind the still

and screamed “The damn things gonna blow!”

Every hick in Booger county heard the

Racket that sucker made

Corn likker went up like nitro and

blew away the stage

Every one got out except those rockin’ cats

No one forgot that sight

When the Boys from Weird Holler

Were blown apart that night.

Now they say them boys are still howlin’

And layin’ out that hillbilly jive

You can hear ‘em in Weird Holler

Just as sure as you’re alive

A cold chill might creep up yore spine

But your hand will be slappin’ the dash

‘Cause the Boys from Weird Holler

are still rockin’ through eternity.
